ACADEMIC AND TRAINING

Education/Training Center
Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics
White City, OR

This project is currently in the design phase and is scheduled to break ground in 2019. The scope of this project includes the demolition of an existing two-story educational/multipurpose building of approximately 19,000 square feet. The existing building 220, which housed a café, theater/multipurpose room with a stage, and several retail locations, is not seismically sound. A new building will be constructed in a different location to house the displaced activities. This new building will be approximately 15,000 square feet and includes a large entrance lobby with educational displays, a multipurpose room with a stage, two classrooms, a computer lab, and a lounge. The estimated construction cost for this building is $7.24 million.

The VA campus is host to many historical buildings, so special care was taken when designing the façade and choosing exterior materials. This project is also required to meet a minimum of two Green Globes and will be certified through the Green Building Initiative.

NCO Leadership School
McChord AFB, WA

This project involved the design of a mixed-use complex consisting of a NCO Leadership School Building and a dormitory with thirty (30) two-person modules with semi-private baths to lodge NCO students on temporary assignment while attending the school. Classrooms, a resource center, offices, an auditorium, and a break room provide for intensive learning and personal development experience.

Steel framed sloped concrete tile roofs and structural brick exteriors are incorporated to harmonize with the “Military Park” design theme for this centrally located complex. The 1-story school and 2-story dormitory wings, with exterior egress balconies, wrap around and shield a formation and physical conditioning area from street view.

Addition to Squadron
Operations Facility
Klamath Falls Airport-Kingsley Field, OR

Mandeville Berge Box Architects designed an addition to the existing Squadron Operations Building 243 in Klamath Falls, OR. The intent of the project was to provide facilities for the maintenance and training of mission aircraft and personnel of the 173d Fighter Wing, including an AFE/Parachute Shop and additional secure briefing/debriefing areas for pilots. The additions increased the size of the existing secure “vault” area and provioded a new Parachute Shop and space for additional Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE).

Relocation of the Parachute Shop to the Building 243 addition allowed for consolidation of AFE operations to one area on the Base. The addition was designed to match the existing building, including type of construction, exterior/interior colors and finishes, roof structure and building height.
